How to learn to improvise on the tongue drum? Tutorial # 2 (intermediate)

All the tips for improvising that you will learn in these tutorials can (or must) be deepened, developed, modified, personalized. I would like to insist: the purpose of these tutorials is to give you the keys to learn how to play the tongue drum. The goal is not to play exactly what's on the score, but to understand how I improvise on the tongue drum. Of course it's a very good exercise to repeat the melodies I suggest, but in order to learn to improvise you should apply the tricks I give you to your own melodies.

In this tutorial I play with a mallet for the notes and I use a hand to control the resonance of the instrument.

We also find the notion of groups of notes.

You will find the score for this tutorial a little further down, you will be able to see how the melody is composed.

A simpler approach, for those who are looking for a more intuitive playing (without score), would be to count in groups of 5. Indeed we can distinguish 2 groups of 5 notes; a fast one followed by a 2 times slower one.

You can therefore count 12345 1 2 3 4 5 and so on.
